Dear you work of art,
I woke up this morning feeling anxious about many things. Meetings I’ve had to cancel, things I could have said differently, opportunities I’ve royally screwed up, the election….
So I decided to step outside and stand in the sun. A strong gust of wind took me out of my racing thoughts and back into my body. I felt the sharp chill of the wind envelope me and my mind began to slow down. Suddenly, I could hear the birds chirping, and feel the strong energy of the river.
The best way to cope with anxious, running thoughts is to be present. Indulge the senses. And remind our anxious minds, that there is nothing that truly exists besides the here and now.
I spoke to G-d with my feet in the grass.
They wanted me to send you this message:
Trust in the timing of the of the universe. Your success is inevitable, but it cannot be forced. Accept that things will happen when the time is right.
Remember, there is power in accepting your limits. We are not machines; we are human beings. Accept the circumstances you are working within and the limits of your body. Do not offer more than you can give. Be like a tall, sturdy elm tree that offers as much as it can to the environment around it and nothing more. Release the shame associated with circumstances out of your control.
When all feels lost and out of control, slow down. Create space in your schedule for a slow, luxurious, sensual activity like a self-message, a hot bath, or a cool swim. Pick a time window and stick to it, and don’t look at your phone the entire time.
I know things may feel hopeless right now, especially for my American readers. Take a deep breath, and trust the path you are on. Your success is inevitable. You are valued no matter how many mistakes you make. Your voice has power. Your sensitivity and thoughtfulness are a gift. You are stronger than you think.
XOXO,
