Who am I?
Hi, I’m Hannah! I’m a queer disabled Jew dancing my way through life and the author behind this Substack. I love spending time outside, fashion, playing with dogs, drinking coffee on a patio in the sunshine, camping and walking daily with no headphones in the forest. My favourite topics include body acceptance, self-confidence, chronic illness, spirituality, perfectionism, sustainability, queerness, fitness, and critical thinking. Oh, and I have a BSc. in Natural Resource Conservation, and a Msc. in Public Policy with a major in Sustainability and Social Change.
I was diagnosed with two chronic illnesses and got stomach reconstruction surgery at just 17 years old. Being disabled led me to have no self-confidence for a decade of my life. Fear of being disliked or judged stopped me from doing things I love, ultimately blunting my authenticity. I struggled with body image for years before discovering the idea of body acceptance, and later confidence. I have been creating content on confidence-building now for over five years, documenting my journey and lessons learned along the way.
Some facts about me:
I produced a confidence podcast with 98-5-star reviews on Spotify
I have competed 3 times in competitive powerlifting
I have IBD and got my colon removed when I was 17 years old
I’ve worked multiple jobs in communications and marketing for environmental non-profits
I was a Master’s research assistant for a world-renowned climate activist
I’m a board member of the only Queer Jewish non-profit in Vancouver
I love doing abstract makeup art, creating outfits, painting, writing poetry and being creative
I am really sarcastic and thrive off of dry humour
What is the Chronically Confident Crew?
The Chronically Confident Crew was created to inspire humans to live their most confident and authentic lives, through practising radical self-acceptance. The confidence I teach isn’t dependent on how much money you have, how skinny you are or what your religious or gender identity is. Confidence is a skill any of us can learn to improve our quality of life, and it is accessible to all. The journey is not about being perfect or getting everything right. It is about finding purpose, believing in ourselves, and practising confidence no matter what life throws at us. This community is packed with tips for growing a confident mindset in every area of life.
